The least significant dword is the TID running counter. The most significant dword is the agent number. In the CX-3 shared port model, the mlx4 driver uses the most significant byte of the agent number to store the slave number, making agent numbers greater and equal to 2^24 (3 bytes) unusable. The current codebase uses a variable which is incremented for each new agent number giving too large agent numbers over time. The IDA set of functions are used instead of the simple counter approach. This allows re-use of agent numbers. The signature of the bug is a MAD layer that stops working and the console is flooded with messages like: mlx4_ib: egress mad has non-null tid msb:1 class:4 slave:0 Orabug: 28339815 Signed-off-by: Hans Westgaard Ry Reviewed-by: HÃ¥kon Bugge Reviewed-by: Shannon Nelson Signed-off-by: Brian Maly --- diff --git a/drivers/infiniband/core/mad.c b/drivers/infiniband/core/mad.c index 11354a2a487d..80c5b4b13a63 100644 --- a/drivers/infiniband/core/mad.c +++ b/drivers/infiniband/core/mad.c @@ -39,7 +39,9 @@ #include #include #include +#include #include +#include #include "mad_priv.h" #include "mad_rmpp.h" @@ -62,8 +64,6 @@ MODULE_PARM_DESC(recv_queue_size, "Size of receive queue in number of work reque static struct kmem_cache *ib_mad_cache; static struct list_head ib_mad_port_list; -static u32 ib_mad_client_id = 0; - /* Port list lock */ static DEFINE_SPINLOCK(ib_mad_port_list_lock); @@ -85,6 +85,48 @@ static int add_nonoui_reg_req(struct ib_mad_reg_req *mad_reg_req, static int add_oui_reg_req(struct ib_mad_reg_req *mad_reg_req, struct ib_mad_agent_private *agent_priv); +static DEFINE_IDA(ib_mad_client_ids); +#define AGENT_ID_LIMIT BIT(24) +static DEFINE_SPINLOCK(get_id_lock); + +static int get_id_cyclic(void) +{ + int ret, id, next; + unsigned long flags; + static int ida_next = 1; + struct ida *ida = &ib_mad_client_ids; + int start = 1; + int end = AGENT_ID_LIMIT; + +again: + if (!ida_pre_get(ida, GFP_KERNEL)) + return -ENOMEM; + + spin_lock_irqsave(&get_id_lock, flags); + next = (ida_next >= end) ? start : ida_next; + + ret = ida_get_new_above(ida, next, &id); + if (!ret) { + if (id > end) { + ida_remove(ida, id); + if (next == start) { + ret = -ENOSPC; + } else { + ida_next = start; + spin_unlock_irqrestore(&get_id_lock, flags); + goto again; + } + } else { + ida_next = id + 1; + ret = id; + } + } + spin_unlock_irqrestore(&get_id_lock, flags); + + if (unlikely(ret == -EAGAIN)) + goto again; + return ret; +} /* * Returns a ib_mad_port_private structure or NULL for a device/port * Assumes ib_mad_port_list_lock is being held @@ -212,7 +254,7 @@ struct ib_mad_agent *ib_register_mad_agent(struct ib_device *device, int ret2, qpn; unsigned long flags; u8 mgmt_class, vclass; - + int ib_mad_client_id; /* Validate parameters */ qpn = get_spl_qp_index(qp_type); if (qpn == -1) { @@ -375,8 +417,16 @@ struct ib_mad_agent *ib_register_mad_agent(struct ib_device *device, atomic_set(&mad_agent_priv->refcount, 1); init_completion(&mad_agent_priv->comp); + ib_mad_client_id = get_id_cyclic(); + if (ib_mad_client_id < 0) { + pr_err("Couldn't allocate agent tid; errcode: %#x\n", + ib_mad_client_id); + ret = ERR_PTR(ib_mad_client_id); + goto error4; + } + mad_agent_priv->agent.hi_tid = (u32)ib_mad_client_id; + spin_lock_irqsave(&port_priv->reg_lock, flags); - mad_agent_priv->agent.hi_tid = ++ib_mad_client_id; /* * Make sure MAD registration (if supplied) @@ -567,6 +617,7 @@ static void unregister_mad_agent(struct ib_mad_agent_private *mad_agent_priv) { struct ib_mad_port_private *port_priv; unsigned long flags; + u32 ib_mad_client_id; /* Note that we could still be handling received MADs */ @@ -578,6 +629,8 @@ static void unregister_mad_agent(struct ib_mad_agent_private *mad_agent_priv) port_priv = mad_agent_priv->qp_info->port_priv; cancel_delayed_work(&mad_agent_priv->timed_work); + ib_mad_client_id = mad_agent_priv->agent.hi_tid; + spin_lock_irqsave(&port_priv->reg_lock, flags); remove_mad_reg_req(mad_agent_priv); list_del(&mad_agent_priv->agent_list); @@ -592,6 +645,9 @@ static void unregister_mad_agent(struct ib_mad_agent_private *mad_agent_priv) kfree(mad_agent_priv->reg_req); ib_dereg_mr(mad_agent_priv->agent.mr); kfree(mad_agent_priv); + spin_lock_irqsave(&get_id_lock, flags); + ida_remove(&ib_mad_client_ids, ib_mad_client_id); + spin_unlock_irqrestore(&get_id_lock, flags); } static void unregister_mad_snoop(struct ib_mad_snoop_private *mad_snoop_priv) @@ -3164,7 +3220,7 @@ static int __init ib_mad_init_module(void) ret = -EINVAL; goto error2; } - + ida_init(&ib_mad_client_ids); return 0; error2: @@ -3177,6 +3233,7 @@ static void __exit ib_mad_cleanup_module(void) { ib_unregister_client(&mad_client); kmem_cache_destroy(ib_mad_cache); + ida_destroy(&ib_mad_client_ids); } module_init(ib_mad_init_module);
